It grows in coniferous forests, under pine and spruce, singly or in groups, in deciduous forests under the birch, get, oak. Harvested from May to October.

Boletus edulis are sometimes confused – especially young specimens – with bitter bitterness (inedible or even poisonous) and poisonous boletus. When collecting red boletus or reticulated boletus, pay attention to the color of the flesh, tubes and shafts. Boletus purple or pink when broken, mostly pink, hat's reddish or brick-red color, or with a pink or yellow stem are poisonous.
