The most beautiful shrubs and trees that bloom in early spring

Early spring and early spring are times when we often cannot wait for the first signs of life in the garden. At the same time, it is the flowering period of many deciduous shrubs, which are the most beautiful then. Many of them are perfect for home gardens. Below is a list of those particularly interesting and effective for which it is worth finding a little space in your garden.

Intermediate forsythia

It is an exceptionally effective flowering shrub. The flowers are intensely yellow in color and appear most often in the last decade of March, decorating the bush until the beginning of May. The bush grows up depending on the variety from 1 do 3 m in height, grows very fast and has a loose upright habit. There are many varieties of forsythia that differ in their growth strength and flowering intensity. Forsythia is best located in the corner of the garden surrounded by other colorful deciduous shrubs for which it will become the background in the summer. Forsythia looks good in combination with large conifers, e.g.. bluish blue spruce, or pine trees with which the intensely blooming forsythia beautifully contrasts. You can also create a hedge from forsythia.

Tawuły gray and early

These Tawuły bloom at the beginning of April and bloom until the beginning of May. Their long shoots, until it bends under a mass of snow-white, small flowers. These shrubs grow up to approx. 1,5-2 m in height, and their shoots hang down, therefore these plants have an extensive habit. Gray and early tawuły are perfect for a hedge, although they also look good in the composition with other deciduous shrubs.

Magnolie Soulanea, Purple, starry and Japanese

Magnolias are undoubtedly the queens of spring. Star and Japanese magnolia bloom at the beginning of April with a large number of snow-white flowers. Soulenea and purple magnolias bloom slightly later and have fewer flowers than the previously mentioned species, however, they compensate for this with the size of the flowers and their beautiful color, which, depending on the variety, varies from lilac, by pink, up to beetroot soup. Magnolias are generally large shrubs, or small trees and depending on the variety, they can reach from 3 up to several meters in height. For magnolias, choose a quiet place, not exposed to winter winds and frosts. Unfortunately, it often happens that magnolias do not bloom because the flower buds are frozen. Magnolias look the most beautiful when planted individually on the lawn, but they can also be integrated into plantings of other plants.

Intermediate and Japanese quince

Quince flowers bloom in mid-April with the development of leaves. Their beautiful flowers are red in color, orange, or white. Quince are medium-sized compact shrubs – they grow up to 1-2 m in height. Depending on the variety, they have a more or less extensive habit. These shrubs look great when planted in groups, in compositions with other spring flowering shrubs, as well as with conifers that form the background for their flowers.

Three-lobed almond and Japanese cherries

Almonds and Japanese cherries are, depending on the method of producing the seedlings, a small pot, or large shrubs. Their main ornaments are beautiful appearing in April, delicate and very numerous pink flowers, which are generally full. The tonsil is usually large, a dense shrub with a spherical shape. Japanese cherries are generally small trees, the most popular of which is sawn cherry. They take various forms, e.g.. columnar as in the case of the Amonagawa variety, crying in Kiku shidare, or an inverted cone in the Kanzan variety. Both the tonsil and the cut cherry are quite susceptible to frost and disease. For these plants, choose places sheltered from cold winds and not exposed to frost.

Decorative apple trees and plum trees

They are usually small trees that bloom from mid-April to early May. Their flowers are very numerous from white to dark pink. There are many ornamental varieties, often with colored leaves, such as. a red-leaved variety of the Pissardi plum, or Profusion apple. These trees are very suitable for compositions with perennials and small deciduous shrubs.
