Development and strengthening of slopes

Development and strengthening of slopes.

Our task was to develop a large one, a home garden in one of the districts of Rzeszów. A large part of the garden was located in the trench, created in the process of creating the shelf, on which the house was built, which generated quite large slopes located on the outskirts of the garden. The slopes surrounded a large, flat surface on three sides, which was perfect for a lawn. Because the slopes were relatively steep and the laying of a lawn on them, was inadvisable, Due to the difficulties in its later maintenance, it was decided, that they will all be filled, and a flat surface will form a lawn at their base. Because, for the fact, that the garden was in the open, In order to cover the interior of the garden, the top of the slopes was planted with a hedge from the Emerald Thuja.

The steepest parts of the slopes were planted with cover plants : junipers, cotoneaster and dwarf mountain pine, and partially reinforced with sandstone boulders. The softer parts of the slopes were planted with groups of deciduous shrubs: meadows, berberysami, cinquefoils, ognikami i dereniami, and then the pine bark was mulched.

Between cover crops, and in particular, individual trees were woven into the boulders (spruce, oak, pine, metasekwoja, palm maple) and groups of small conifers, colored, deciduous dwarf shrubs, ornamental grasses and heathers. The result was a varied effect, a colorful composition referring to the mountain landscape and rock gardens, which surrounds the large one on three sides, rectangular lawn area.
