Before sowing, the soil surface should be smooth and not contaminated. Most undesirable, and sometimes even dangerous, there is pollution, such as different stones, pieces of debris, wires, etc.. Leaving such contaminants on the soil surface may damage the mower cutting elements: the lower the mowing, the easier it is to get such damage.
All contamination should be collected, and rake the surface of the soil. For this purpose, a special rake attached to a light tractor is used. The type heavier than the one shown in the figure can be used for deeper loosening and leveling of the land.
The soil surface should not be excessively dry and sprayed before sowing. The best is such a state of humidity, in which small lumps with a diameter of up to 1 cm. This area is obtained by 2–3-folding by roller, spike or other similarly working tools, like for example. mesh roller.
Such a roller crumbles clods, slightly compresses and levels the soil surface. Used before and after sowing, it replaces the spike roller. Leaving too large lumps on the surface makes it difficult to place seeds at even intervals.
