Grass mixtures, part 2

The basic factors determining the species composition of the mixture are: soil type and moisture content, climatic conditions, cost and the possibility of obtaining seeds, the purpose of the lawn and the required cutting height, anticipated intensity of trampling and shading. When selecting grass species, the aim is to limit their number to 3 the 4, usually one of them is running grass. Two starting grasses should never be used in the mixture.
You will get the most even color of the lawn throughout the growing season, if the grasses in the mixture mature at different times. Therefore, when selecting the composition of the mixture, the appearance of plants in particular growing seasons should be taken into account:
— mietlice (Agrostis) look best in the second half of summer;
- comb (Cynosurus) changes slightly;
- fescues (Fescue) they look best in the spring time;
— ryegrass (Lollium) looks best in spring and fall;
- bluegrass (Poa) they change slightly.

Here are examples of grass mixtures (wg Greenfielda):
a) for garden lawns (carpet)
Velvet (Agrostis thin) 30%
Creeping red fescue (Festuca rubra ssp, rubra) 70%

b) on heavily trampled lawns
1, Common comb (Cynosurus crisatus) 70%
Velvet (Thin grips) 10%
Creeping red fescue (Festuca rubra ssp. rubra) 10%
Meadow grass (Poa pratensis) or common panicle (P. trivialis) 10%
(P. pratensis - on light or dry soils, P. trivialis for heavier or wet soils)

2. Sheep fescue (red fescue ss,red p) 10%
The ryegrass persisted (Perennial lily) 60%
Combs and common (Cynosurus cristatus) 10%
Meadow grass (Poa pratensis) or common panicle (P. trivialis) 20%

3. The ryegrass persisted (Perennial lily) 70-80%
Common comb (Cynosurus cristatus) 20-30%

c) for lawns in shaded areas
- on heavy soils:
The ryegrass persisted (Perennial lily) 50%
Common panicle (Poa trivialis) 30%
Creeping mower (Agrostis slofanifera) 20%

- on normal soils:
Meadow grass (Poa pratensis) 50%
The ryegrass persisted (Perennial lily) 25%
Common comb (Cynosurus cristatus) or sheep fescue (sheep fescue) 25%

- on dry soils:
Sheep fescue (sheep fescue) 40%
Narrow-leaved fescue (Fescue tenuifolia) 20%
Tufted red fescue (Festuca rubra ssp. switched) 10%
Velvet (Agrostis thin) 30%

- in cities:
The ryegrass persisted (Perennial lily) 40%
Common panicle (Poa trivialis) 30%
Annual pea (Poa annua) 30%
