The principle of operation remained the same as before: the measuring device emits an inaudible ultrasonic signal, which bounces off the wall and is analyzed by the receiver upon returning. Based on time, which has elapsed since the signal was sent and received, the camera calculates the distance measured in centimeters.
Accuracy at normal room temperatures is 5 percent. Because the speed of sound varies with the air temperature, large changes in temperature during one measurement should be avoided. Wind can also distort the ultrasonic signal. Therefore, the device is less suitable for measurements taken outdoors. The ultrasonic rangefinder is now easier to use, has greater range and accuracy. The laser guide light indicates the measuring field precisely, preventing errors to a large extent.
The measurement field grows with increasing distance. The measurement may be distorted by furniture and air movement (wind). The screen is not backlit. SO 20 plus is suitable for measurements, which do not have to be accurate to the millimeter.

It is only disturbed by strong solar radiation, because it reduces the visibility of the small laser point, especially at long distances, which may reduce the practical range of the measurements made. Therefore, for external measurements of long distances in sunlight, the manufacturer has provided an auxiliary screen and special laser glasses.

Using the five function buttons, you can select the appropriate measurement mode: length, surface, cubature, as well as direct or indirect (based on the Pythagorean theorem).
