Yarrow is used in less fertile and dry soils. It grows similarly to white clover, forming stolons. It remains green during long droughts. The rug formed by the yarrow is low and delicate.
Adding other non-grass plants, especially for turf on garden lawns (carpet tiles), considered unfavorable, as these plants have a tendency to spread out in distinctive lobes, which affects the uniform appearance of the lawn. Therefore, such plants are added less frequently to the composition of grass mixtures for this type of lawns. Addition of non-grass plants, even in a large number of different species, however, they are used to establish park lawns. Very often these are sets corresponding to the naturally occurring vegetation in given conditions.
Sometimes the term is used when discussing lawn plants: replacement plants. It concerns non-grassy plants, from which various types of turf turfs are created, park fleece and similar vegetation covers. However, these covers are not lawns and, equally the selection of these plants, as well as the technique of their introduction under specific conditions and different care are special issues, not related to the technology of establishing and maintaining lawns.
