Trees and shrubs are planted at such distances, to allow them to grow freely, i.e.. co 120…150 cm species of medium growth force, 200…300 cm high-growing species, like magnolias, spruces. Only one specimen is usually planted in small gardens.
The root system of plants should fit freely in the well prepared before planting. Roots must not be curled upwards, but spread over a small mound, at the bottom of the well. The root neck should be level with the soil surface. The hole is covered with earth, tramples lightly (leaving a groove around the bush) and water profusely. When planting a hedge, you do not dig a hole for each bush separately, but a trench of equal depth and width. Coniferous and evergreen species are most easily planted, which are purchased with a root ball. It is enough to dig a sufficiently large hole, put a lump in it, and fill the empty spaces with earth. The planted plants are watered abundantly and shaded on sunny days.
Bushes planted in spring are pruned at a height of 3…5 mesh off the ground. This restores the balance between the damaged root system and the aboveground part. If it is planted in the fall – they are not cut until March. This is not necessary for plants planted with a root ball, because their root system was intact. This also does not apply to laurel, magnolia, Rhododendron. In most species, pruning does, that the plant is branching, and its side shoots are evenly spaced. In winter, most of them should be protected from frost.
