The care of older trees after transplanting is primarily treatments aimed at limiting water loss and its replenishment by appropriate, very careful watering. The tree should only be watered then, when there is a need for lego.
Where the earth from the depth 20 cm remains lumpy in the hand after being squeezed, may be accepted, that its humidity is sufficient. Excessive moisture, especially on heavier soils, clayey, hinders the access of air to the roots, and thus weakens the process of their regeneration. Therefore, watering should not be used in cool and humid weather.
An effective way to reduce water loss by a large tree in the event of the trunk and branches heating up and the action of winds is wrapping the trunk and branches with jute or paper fabrics.. The wrapping should be double, however, do not wrap too thickly, as long-term moisture can cause fungus growth and infection of bark and wood. A good one, although a method that has not been used in our company is spraying the bark of the trunk and limbs with special paraffinic emulsions, wax or latex, which, by creating thin coatings, effectively protect against water loss. These shells crack after some time and separate from the bark.
It is highly desirable to arrange a suitable mulch around a freshly transplanted tree. Maintaining the mulch not only prevented the soil from drying out, but it prevents it from closing, making it difficult for air to reach the roots.
It is very disadvantageous to allow weeds to appear around the tree. They absorb water and nutrients very intensively and can be a significant competition and threat to the tree.
