Assessment of the older tree

Plastic value and health. Older trees are very often planted to increase the decorative and aesthetic value of a particular place, the more importance is attached to their artistic features.

Basic feature, which should be taken into account when assessing the tree, is a habit appropriate for a given species, which can develop in the conditions of a sufficiently free environmental space. Therefore, trees growing too close to each other or in complete compactness are of much less value. Moreover, only in conditions of free space is it possible to properly shape the crown of the tree in terms of construction. Trees with an excessively long trunk are easy to be knocked over by the wind after planting. The overall health of the selected tree is also important. Trees with open wounds and progressive wood infection, those infected with diseases and infested with pests are not suitable for replanting.

Age and size of the tree. Each tree species under optimal conditions reaches its characteristic size at a certain age. The diameter of the trunk, tree height and crown width are the most important dimensions that characterize a tree. Age determination can only play a supporting role, while the dimensions of the tree may be of interest not only to the designer, but they are also very important to the transplant operator. Based on the dimensions of the tree, appropriate technical and transport means are selected.
